v0.8.0 — Update 10 October
Seven Lost Dungeons raids open at the Wayfarer camps for one player or a whole raid, Omens of War gets its quests, epics and loot back, Lavastorm becomes the Dragons of Norrath zone, winning the Games opens the Planes of Power, and your spell gems reach your whole spellbook.
Additions
- Lost Dungeons raids at the Wayfarer camps: seven Lost Dungeons of Norrath raids can now be started at the camps. Hail the raid's Wayfarer, ask about the problem and say you are interested: you get an expedition and a compass line to the dungeon's portal, and the portal takes you in. Go alone, or bring a group or a raid of up to 54. In North Ro, Efrelle Treiui has Takish-Hiz: Within the Compact. In Butcherblock, Kroggl has Mistmoore's Catacombs: Struggles within the Progeny, with the portal in the Lesser Faydark. In East Commonlands, Luarnn Gibbizt has The Rujarkian Hills: Prison Break and Chaenz Abella has Hidden Vale of Deceit; their portal is in South Ro and comes down with this patch. In South Ro, Ruwakka has Deepest Guk: The Curse Reborn and Friggal Bribbitz has Ritualist of Hate, with the portal in Innothule Swamp. In Everfrost, Qileour Bahiael has Miragul's Menagerie: Frozen Nightmare. These are raids, and nothing about the fights has been made easier for one player. Winning one starts a 2-hour replay timer for that raid. Several other Wayfarers who speak of raids are not at the camps yet, because their raids have not been built.
- Omens of War comes alive: the Omens of War zones had no quest scripts, so their NPCs said nothing and their quests could not be done. They are scripted now: the quest givers and the class armour and spell hand-ins in Dranik's Scar, the Bloodfields, Nobles' Causeway, Harbinger's Spire, Wall of Slaughter and the Ruined City of Dranik; the epic 1.5 and 2.0 steps that happen in those zones, for any class your hero holds; the Riftseekers' Sanctum events; and the Catacombs and Sewers of Dranik, which Grand Historian Rygua in the Ruined City opens for you alone or for a group of up to six. Each of the six Projections in the Muramite Proving Grounds hands out a group trial and a raid trial. Gazz the Gargantuan and War Caller Kaavi in the Bloodfields, and Battlemaster Rhorious and Lirah the Bridgekeeper in the Ruined City, now run the way they were written. Where an NPC rewards only some classes, armour and spell hand-ins pay out for a class you hold rather than only the one you were created as, and an NPC with nothing for any of your classes hands your items straight back. A few NPCs that have a reward for every class still go by the class you were created as. You get one reward per hand-in, and the trials are as hard as they always were. Anguish keeps its keys: the flag lets you into the zone, but its only door, in Wall of Slaughter, also asks for all six raid trials and the Riftseekers insignias.
- Lavastorm is the Dragons of Norrath zone: the Lavastorm Mountains now use the rebuilt zone from Dragons of Norrath. The Norrath's Keepers and Dark Reign camps are back at the north end, and you can walk from Lavastorm into The Broodlands and into Lavaspinner's Lair, so the Broodlands Guides have left the camps. Lavaspinners, magma war drakes, magma basilisk warriors, Scorchwing and Head Miner Bibol can be found again. The entrances to Najena, Solusek's Eye, Nagafen's Lair and the Temple of Solusek Ro are where the rebuilt zone has them, and the druid ring spells and the Lavastorm waypoint take you to the new ring. Lavastorm's creatures use their Dragons of Norrath models for everyone, whatever your #tim setting. The lesser nightmare, the warbone skeletons and the goblin runner do not come back. If you logged out, bound yourself or left a corpse in Lavastorm, you will find it at the Nektulos tunnel.
- Tents, banners and campfires at the Wayfarer camps: the camps in Butcherblock, Everfrost and the Northern Desert of Ro now have their Wayfarers Brotherhood tents, banner and campfire. The South Ro camp has its own set too: its campfire is there now with no patch needed, and its tents and banner come down with this patch.
- A waypoint in the Ruined City of Dranik: a rune circle stands near the entrance from The Bloodfields. Walk onto it once to unlock it, and it is on your waypoint list under Discord from then on. It does not lift the Ruined City's progression requirement.
- Your spell gems reach your whole spellbook: right-clicking a spell gem used to show only part of your book, which on a character with many classes meant only your highest-level spells. The menu now lists every spell you have scribed, in the same category menus as before. Saved spell sets had the same blind spot and quietly dropped the spells they could not see; loading a set now restores all of them, and only the gems that actually change are re-memorised. Clearing a gem that holds a spell you can no longer cast, after a de-level or for a class you no longer hold, now works instead of being refused.
- Spell Bar 2 resizes, closes and minimises: the bar has a minimise button, a close button and a resizable edge. Drag a corner and the 12 slots rearrange to fit: wide for a single row of 12, tall for a single column, or 6x2, 4x3, 3x4 or 2x6 in between, with the slots growing up to about twice the size of your normal spell gems. Let go and the window tidies itself to the slots. Size and position are remembered per character, and so is closing it: type /bar2 to bring it back. A spell on cooldown is now dimmed evenly with the time remaining shown over it, instead of a dark bar creeping up the icon.
- Patch your client: the spell gem menu, the Spell Bar 2 window, the Games champions' models, South Ro's tents and raid portal, solo adventures and the Holy Shield description all come down with The Imperial Courier. Press PATCH in the launcher before you play.
Balance
- Take an adventure on your own: Lost Dungeons of Norrath adventures no longer need a group. Right-click any Wayfarer camp's Adventure Recruiter by yourself and you will be offered one. You still need your Adventurer's Stone, and the dungeons are still built for six, so going in alone is a real test. Nothing changes for groups: the leader still does the asking.
- Zun`Muram Kvxe Pirik's scales lock in: when he meditates in Tacvi, bring each of the four Balance mobs down to its mark and it locks in place: your attacks and spells no longer touch it, and it stays balanced for that meditation. Balance all four and he comes out of his meditation at once instead of after the full 70 seconds. Only a Balance mob you did not reach in time makes him stronger, as before.
- Your procs work on bane-only bosses: a few bosses, Emperor Ssraeshza and Lord Inquisitor Seru among them, can only be hurt in melee by a weapon with bane damage against them, and until now a weapon without it could never proc on them either. Your weapon still does no melee damage there without bane, but every swing that would have hit now rolls your weapon, augment, Proc Extractor and buff procs. They land as spells, so the boss can still resist them. Disciplines, kicks and other skill attacks count as melee on these bosses and need a bane weapon; Bash lands when your weapon has bane. A pet's ranged attacks and a thrown weapon without bane no longer chip them, though a throw's procs still roll.
- Shield Specialist finishes at level 10: Warriors and Paladins can buy all five ranks of Shield Specialist by level 10. Rank 1 is still level 1; ranks 2 to 5 are level 10, where they were 20, 35, 50 and 70. The bonus per rank and the point costs are unchanged. Holy Shield's description now says it needs one rank of Shield Specialist, not the maximum.
- The Games replay timer is 3 hours: after you start a run of the Games you wait 3 hours before you can start that same Games again, where it used to be 5 minutes. Each of the Games has its own timer, shown as Replay Timer in your lockout window. A timer you already have keeps its old end time.
- The Ring of Fire in Acrylia Caverns is much shorter: the event takes about 36 minutes from your first step into the ring to the last boss, where it took about an hour and a half. The waves, bosses and loot are the same, only faster: a new wave every 20 seconds, 30 seconds after a mini boss, and two minutes after each round's boss, so waves pile up if you cannot keep pace. Someone still has to be standing inside the ring, and not feigning death, every time a wave is due, or the event starts over. The bosses come to you as long as they can see you.
Fixes
- Winning the Games opens the Planes. Each of the Games now opens its tier: Games I the Crypt of Decay, Drunder, the Lair of Terris Thule, the Halls of Honor, the Plane of Valor and the Plane of Storms; Games II Torment, the Bastion of Thunder, the Temple of Marr and the Tower of Solusek Ro; Games III the Planes of Fire, Air and Water and both Planes of Earth; Games V the Plane of Time. If you have already won, hail the Game Master in the Bazaar once on each of your characters and he opens what your account has earned, once your account has finished Classic, Kunark, Velious and Luclin. For the Plane of Time, say time to the Herald of Druzzil Ro in the Plane of Knowledge, or use the machine in the Plane of Innovation. Inside those zones, the way to a champion's own chamber is still earned there.
- The Games champions show their own models. Grummus, Bertoxxulous, Saryrn, Agnarr and the rest were drawn as plain humans in the arena; they look like themselves again once you patch. The Game Master inside the arena still looks like a plain human.
- Epic 1.5 and 2.0 quests can be finished. Almost every class's epic stopped somewhere: switched-off steps, quest givers who never appeared or would not talk to your class, items nothing dropped or sold, and tradeskill combines that never moved the quest on. Every class's prequest, 1.5 and 2.0 can now be finished. Excavator Quellin appears in Dragon Necropolis again for the Bard, the Great Bear in the Plane of Justice deals with Druids, Instructor Maerceci stands in Ro for the Paladin's Token of Chivalry, alchemy suppliers sell the Fine Potion Vial, and the Enchanter prequest's Fine Insidious pieces drop again. A hero holding several classes is no longer locked out of one class's step by another. Some steps still need their expansion open, and every 2.0 needs the Anguish raid.
- Omens of War creatures drop their loot again. Most had lost every drop from their own era, and 26, most of them named, dropped nothing at all. Their armour, weapons, jewellery and the crafting materials Omens tradeskills need, such as the Magnetized armour pieces, Bazu skins and the uncut gems, are back. Krekk Brimblade drops Champion's Sword of Eternal Power every time again for the Warrior epic 1.5, and Craftmaster Tieranu the Ring of Warmth for the Ranger epic 2.0.
- Several Omens of War quests can be finished. The Wall of Slaughter portal crystal, the Bard epic 2.0 hand-ins, the Elder Priest of Discord's teleport quest in Dranik's Scar, the Ranger epic's Hoarfrost Wand and the Lightning Core for the Berserker epic 2.0 axe all drop again.
- Grand Historian Gersh speaks, and the caves of Dranik are open. Ask him in Dranik's Scar about the caves and he opens one of the three Dranik's Hollows caves for you, alone or with a group of up to six; he chooses which, in turn. Everyone going in needs the Omens of War flag: a group member without it can come along but is moved to the Bazaar on entering. If he cannot open a passage, because you are already on another expedition, he tells you so.
- Dragons of Norrath creatures drop their loot again. Many creatures in The Broodlands, Stillmoon Temple, The Ascent, Thundercrest Isles, Tirranun's Delve, The Nest and Lavastorm had lost much of their loot, and many mission creatures dropped nothing. Jorvash the Usurper and Tunk the Fluid no longer drop Plane of Fear loot, and the Delve's named drop their own again.
- The Dragons of Norrath missions can be finished, and their chests hold their rewards. Missions whose item never dropped can be completed, the mission chests in Stillmoon Temple, The Ascent, Thundercrest Isles, Tirranun's Delve and The Nest give their rewards again, and Rivals in The Nest works in both versions. The Gloomingdeep tutorial's Spider Caves and Busted Locks can be finished too.
- Quest items drop from their own creatures again. With named loot pools on, a quest item in a pool could come from any creature of that pool, and only rarely. Quest items have left the pools and drop from the creatures your quest names, at their own rate.
- Looting counts for your tasks. A task step that asked you to loot an item never completed, because The Spoils hands out loot through its own window. Taking the item with Keep, Bank or Vault in The Spoils, or by a Spoils rule, now counts. Take it before you leave the zone: a mission step only counts while you are in its zone. Sell, Tribute, Destroy and Pass do not count; whoever you pass it to gets the credit when they take it.
- LDoN collect adventures can be finished. Each collect item now counts once when its creature dies and The Spoils hands out the loot, however many of your group take a copy.
- Helping with the paladin epic's Asylum of Invoked Stone no longer blocks your own run. That instance was never meant to set a lockout.
- The Uqua entrance works. Telling Jerimo Jiao in Yxtta you are ready no longer shows a red script error, and the compass points at the altars behind him. Asking for Uqua now starts its 14-hour replay timer, even if your group kills nothing inside.
- The Void portal in the Plane of Time is sealed. It leads somewhere that is not part of Morituri, so clicking it now tells you it is sealed instead of taking you through.
- Zoning at busy hours. When the server was busy, zoning could fail with "All zone servers are taken at this time" and leave you where you stood. The server had room for 40 zones and instances at once; it now has room for 100. An empty zone is also released within five minutes instead of ten; its monsters, corpses and loot are kept for the next visit, but a scripted event everyone walks away from can lose its place sooner.
- Zoning no longer drops you into a closing zone. Now and then, most often in the Planes of Power, zoning in disconnected you because the zone had been started in a slot that was shutting down. The server no longer hands out a slot that is closing.
