v0.11.0 — Damnatio ad Bestias, Hired Merchants and the AA Rebalance
Damnatio ad Bestias, a solo or group survival arena across five eras; hired Bazaar merchants that sell while you play on; a sweeping AA rebalance with free Mystical Attuning and refunds; and Power Source levelling for any class's gear.
Additions
- Damnatio ad Bestias: speak to Lanista Varro in the Bazaar and you are condemned to the beasts of the West Commonlands in a private arena. Your gear, spells, disciplines, clickies, AAs and pets count for nothing there: only Boons fight for you, and they fire on their own. Kill beasts for Blood, and at every level pick one of three (sometimes four) Boon cards. The fight pauses for up to 30 seconds while you choose, and Lanista Varro can turn the pause off. Survive 15 minutes, with Fippy Darkpaw at 5:00 and Emperor Crush at 10:00, then slay Lord Nagafen to win. Falling simply ends the run: no corpse and no experience lost.
- Boons, Fusions and Laurels: 33 Boons with five ranks each, offered by your classes; heroes with fewer classes are lent Boons of other classes. Two rank-5 Boons from classes you hold can unlock one of 16 Fusions. Two elite guardians, the Orc Centurion and Najena's Shade, wait at the field's edge: kill one for an extra Boon and tougher beasts. Four tribute caches appear every run, each waiting a full minute. A win earns Laurels to spend with Lanista Varro on rerolls, banishes, a fourth card, a second life and more, and the Codex remembers every Boon your account has found.
- Arena Sand: you earn Sand for every minute you survive, more for a win and for each tribute cache you open, up to 400 per account a day. Leaving early, by zoning out or disconnecting, pays nothing. Quartermaster Galla, beside Lanista Varro, sells Classic tradeskill materials and three illusion masks for Sand, and three titles; she buys nothing back.
- The later eras: win the Commonlands and the Emperor opens the Burning Wood, then the Western Wastes, the Umbral Plains and the Plane of Fire, each with its own beasts and legends such as Trakanon, Klandicar, Aten Ha Ra and Fennin Ro. No expansion flag is needed. Each era adds two Boons of its own and hits a little harder, and every era has its own 5-minute lockout.
- Sentenced together: bring a group of up to six. Everyone stands before Lanista Varro and says the words for the same era, and the gate opens once the last of you answers. Every member needs that era open, and a group with a bot or mercenary cannot enter. Beasts grow tougher with each member; you level on shared Blood but choose your own Boons, and the arena only pauses while all of you are choosing. Leaving the group's expedition ends your run, paid for the time you survived.
- The Damnatio card window: up to four Boon cards side by side, with name, rarity, rank, effect and the time left to choose. Click a card or press 1 to 4 on the number row; while the window shows a choice those keys pick cards instead of firing your hotbar, except while you type on the chat line. Your buffs and pets wait at the gate and come back when you leave, but call out a suspended pet first or it can be lost.
- Hire a Bazaar merchant: buy the right once per account for 50 Emperor's Favor from the Imperial Emissary. Price your items in Trader's Satchels, click Begin Trader and type #offlinetrader hire: your satchels go to a hired merchant who keeps selling, in person and through Bazaar search, while you play on anywhere or log out. It holds 10 satchels to start, 20 at most. Target it and type #offlinetrader profits to collect its takings less a small commission, or #offlinetrader reclaim to take your satchels back. #offlinetrader hired shows its location, listings and coin from anywhere. Seasonal characters cannot hire one.
- Your merchant works for you: once a day it mails you its takings by parcel and tells you when stock runs low, and every seventh parcel brings its ledger. #offlinetrader hired packup mails your coin and satchels back from anywhere; reclaim in person to keep ornaments, dye and attunement. A merchant that sells nothing and is not restocked for 30 days packs up by itself. Items unsold for two weeks drop 2% of your price a day, never below half.
- Merchant ranks and upgrades: a merchant starts as a Peddler, becomes a Factor at 50,000 platinum of sales and a Magnate at 500,000. Each rank cuts its fee by 1% (never below 2%) and adds a satchel. The Emissary sells 15 satchels for 50 Favor, 20 for 100 more, and a 3% commission instead of 5% for 75. A sale of 10,000 platinum or more is announced to you wherever you are.
- Guild merchants: a guild leader can buy the guild its own merchant for 50 Emperor's Favor. Members who may deposit in the guild bank stock it with #offlinetrader hire guild; only the leader collects its coin.
- Merchants fund server buffs: commission goes into a shared pool, and every 10,000 platinum buys a 4-hour server-wide blessing (Experience, Selo, Power or Luck). Once a week the server names its Merchant of the Week, and any hired merchant you hail shares what sold most in the Bazaar that day.
- Magus Alaria visits the LDoN camps: she now ports to the Wayfarer camps in Butcherblock, Commonlands, Everfrost, North Ro and South Ro, with no Adventurer's Stone needed.
- Power Source levels any class's gear: you can now level an item your classes cannot use in your Power Source slot. It gives none of its stats or focus effects there, binds to you like any item in that slot, and changing your classes no longer pushes it out.
- Patch your client: the Damnatio card window, the new AA spell values and descriptions, and the Ascendant artifact glamours need the latest client files. Press PATCH in The Imperial Courier before you play.
Balance
- Stronger AAs across every class: dozens of AAs hit harder, heal more or last longer, and many gain ranks, among them Innate Regeneration, Assassin's Wrath, Resplendent Glory, Warlord's Bravery and Celestial Rapidity. Spirit Call reaches rank 8, and Heavy Arrow fires far more often and hits much harder.
- Mystical Attuning is free: every character has all 25 extra buff slots in one rank at no cost, and points spent on it come back, up to 1,240.
- AA refunds can pass the cap: this patch returns points for Mystical Attuning, removed ranks, retired AAs and duplicate copies, once. If that lifts your unspent AA points above 1,000, AA experience pauses until you spend some.
- Ranks that got worse now build on the last: over sixty AAs had a rank that lost a proc, stun, bonus or resist from the rank before. Those ranks now keep it. Some early ranks, such as Deep Sleep's, are lower so that each rank improves on the last.
- Matching AAs from different classes no longer stack: where classes have the same AA under different names (Strikethrough, Bandage Wounds, Fury of Magic and others), a hero uses only the best copy their classes allow, and the rest leave the AA window. Each copy now has the same ranks and values; extra copies you bought are refunded.
- Dead AAs refunded, Quickened AAs useful: 45 AAs that could never do anything at level 70 are removed and fully refunded. The Quickened AAs that cut an instant ability's cast time now shorten its reuse instead, and Quickened Silent Casting is open to every priest and caster class.
- AAs that now work at 70: the healers' Second Spires, the Third Spire of Arcanum, Cascade of Life, Arcane Fusion and several procs now fire off the spells a level-70 hero casts.
- AAs you could not buy can be bought: Allegretto of Battle, Vivace of Conflict, Kerafyrm's Prismatic Familiar and others asked for abilities no one could get. Shadow Knights can learn Destructive Cascade and Vengeful Spirits, Bards Vengeful Spirits, and Furious Leap now leaps you at a target 10 to 75 away.
- Reuse timers: no Hastened line can take off more than 70% of its ability's timer, and later ranks never have longer timers than earlier ones. The top ranks of Lay on Hands and Harm Touch, Gift of Life rank 2 and Soul Touch land their direct heal or damage again, about 49,000 to 62,000. A few procs that could hit for over a million are capped.
- Nature's Boon heals: the druid's ward now heals every player near it about every 6 seconds, 300 at rank 1 up to 870 at rank 11.
- Smaller changes: Combat Stability ranks 19-26 cost 6 each, with the difference refunded. All three Dire Charms work on anything level 60 or below. Arcomancy, Pyromancy and Cryomancy stack. Gift of Mana works on spells from level 30. Arcane Destruction recasts in 4 minutes 30 seconds. Frost Arrows ranks 7-9 match Flaming Arrows' rate and hit for 2,781 / 3,319 / 4,015.
- LDoN raid recruiters send you in: once you are in an LDoN raid, ask any raid recruiter to send you there and you go straight into its dungeon.
- Take another LDoN adventure at once: once out of the dungeon, ask any adventure recruiter to release you, and a finished adventure no longer blocks the next one for 30 minutes. Everyone who was in it must be released; you cannot go back in afterwards.
Fixes
- The Purveyor of Glamour makes a Glamour from each Ascendant artifact form, with its new look.
- Spell Bar 2's spell picker no longer fails with "the client's menu table is full" after a long session.
- The Robe of the Enslaved Soul, its upgrades and its Glamour appear black instead of bright white.
- Offline trader stands return after every restart with their owner's face, hair, level, height, dyes and armor, and Bazaar search shows each seller's name again.
- Founy Jestands and other time-of-day creatures are up after their zone restarts.
- The Mask of the Hidden can be made, and its Stillmoon Temple chest lets a hero choose which class its reward is for.
- Finishing the second tier of Dragons of Norrath gives the level 69 spell for each of your classes.
- Ukun Bloodfeaster in Txevu can be fought, Vrex Barxt Qurat in Uqua no longer resets while his minions are up, and Txevu's bosses give their 6-hour lockout in Non-Respawning runs.
- The Dulak's Harbor boat engineers can be fought, and the Cazic-Thule High Priest, Gimlik Cogboggle and the Avatar of Fear's waves are back.
- Charged items bought with a Bazaar voucher arrive with all their charges, and seasonal characters can no longer buy from another season's stand in person.
Known issues
- Some AA and spell descriptions still quote the old numbers; they catch up in a later patch.
